A New Craft Room

Today’s TaD had to do with the house!! I moved my crafty things into another part of the house and had to clean of some shelves and rearrange some furniture. It seems like there is just to much stuff in this house. But we are working on that.

Anyways, I now get a really big room with alot of bright light(not now because it’s night time xD)! It’s got a sliding glass door so I get a nice big heap o’ sunshine for a better part of the day as well.
The shelves below my two shelves…not that pretty. I cropped them out of the picture and will probably post again later(like tomorrow hopefully) with a before and after.

I like the space. No more spilling paint and glaze on myself because I have no room to put anything anywhere.
So yes. That was my thing of the day.

Carving Stamps

Another Style School project was to carve stamps. This was something I wanted to do but I didn’t see myself ever using them. I wasn’t going to do this project, but the husband encouraged me to buy the parts and do it anyway. I heart him! I bought a $14 kit and plan on buying another rubber block to carve. it was fun and I made ones that I can actually use too.

I did them all freehand by sketching it backwards on the rubber which means the fact that the letters all face the right way is AMAZING! I actually really enjoyed this project and it was super easy to do. Basically you put the image you want to stamp backwards on your piece of rubber, carefully carve it out, and then use it as a stamp. It’s really quite easy but you do run the risk of cutting your thumb… Not that I have experience with that or anything…

Vintage Button Bracelets

aka things I made when I felt ill. I spent a lot of time on the couch or in bed this weekend either watching tv shows or sleeping. I haven’t been feeling well for a while now and tried to tell myself it was just allergies. Well, I can’t tell me that any more and so I spent the 4 day weekend resting.

I did manage to make a couple things though in between naps and while watching tv. It started with a style school project of turning buttons in to a bracelet.

Aside from the style school way of doing it, I found several other ways to do it on the internet and then started doing it my own way.I need to go buy clasps today so that I can finish these up, but it’s a good start.

After the button bracelets, I moved on to painting wooden people. I purchased a bunch of wooden people last year, painted one or two, hated them, and put the rest away. I decided to give it another try for the style school project though and after seeing another classmates Alice, I decided I’d do a bunch of characters from Alice in Wonderland. They need some touching up (and I’m so putting a skewer up the middle next time so I can paint them better), but they’re a better try than last time.

I heart them! I’ll love them more when they’re fixed though. After that project, I did a button necklace. I don’t crochet so I decided to put mine on ribbon. The next one will probably have a chain instead of ribbon.

There were a couple more projects but I haven’t photographed them yet. I’ll have to do that later though because it’s nap time again.

Unicorn horns

I’ve been working on a couple different things today, one of which was a unicorn horn. I still need a better way to keep it in my hair and some more sparkly bits, but it’s on its way!

On a side note, not a good project if you’re impatient because then you end up with glue and paint in your hair…

Notebook Doodles

I was looking at flickr photos and started drawing the things I liked on to notebooks I’ve had in my craft cupboard for awhile now. I’m rather liking how they’re turning out so far.

I’m going to my dentist soon and when I come home I get to pack up stuff for the Visioncon thing this weekend. I’m trying to figure out what all I want to bring and what I want to wear. It’ll be… interesting.

Mustache Pillows

My mom helped me figure out how to use my sewing machine and I’ve been having tons of fun doing various projects. One of those projects consisted of giant mustache pillows for my boys’ rooms. No in action shots yet because the pillows are a present, but these photos will give you the general idea

They’re made out of really really nice wool felt. Princess Lasertron recommended Wool Felt Central for felt and well she sells a lot of felt stuff so she can’t be wrong. And she wasn’t. They have awesome felt and it isn’t insanely priced either.

After I was done making the two mustache pillows (one gray, one teal), I decided I want to make something harder. I went for a wallet and ended up making um five of them.

Felt Wallets

My mom taught me how to use my sewing machine while she was here this past weekend. It was interesting to see what I’veĀ  been doing wrong. And now I’ve been making pretty stuff. I’m really really enjoying my new wallets I made tonight out of wool felt. Forgive the horrible night time photos :) It’s night… :-p

Creative Space

I spent a good potion of yesterday doing a lot of this:

Button making

Which doesn’t look like much but I punched a lot of them out. A huge stack of them all ready to go and become buttons for my etsy store. How many of them? A lot. Like this many

the stack

There’s at least 400 buttons right there in that glass jar. Amazing huh?

Studio Thursday

Can I just say I feel pompous calling my work area “the studio.” I’m not sure what else to call it though. “That place I make shiznit” just doesn’t seem to work well either. In any case, I’m doing the State Fair Community College Craft Fair this Saturday which means I’m busy making tons of stuff. Stuff like this

My creative Space

I’ve really enjoyed the creative space posts on kootoyoo so I’m going to attempt to start posting a photo from my creative space every week. This week’s photo is of some button images I need to punch out and a “love” thing I embroidered recently (first time embroidering too)
