Nintendo Cartridge Clock

I’ve seen these floating around online but couldn’t find a source to buy one. Naturally this meant I found a way to make my own and then ended up buying too many parts for it. This leads to putting them in my store. Yes, classic case of how geek makes her items.

First of many that are going in the store. I’m listing them one at a time though

Alice in Wonderland Cookies

I made some of these for my house, loved them, made more. I think that’s about how the gist of the items in my store goes.

Anyway, Alice in wonderland cookies. For display purposes only, but super cute with my singing flowers, drink me bottles, and painted flower samples

I’m selling them in my etsy store geek details.

New Pinback Buttons

I debated even making these available in my store because I know that some people will not buy from you simply based on your politics. I don’t feel these buttons or their listings are particularly in your face though and frankly, there’s just some stuff you don’t sit by quietly about.

So I made buttons. I have this one on my bag right now. I’ve received a couple rude comments about it, but I no longer care and if someone won’t buy from me because I support marriage for all, well it’s their loss.

This next button is something I’ve said often since my husband joined the military. I’ve seen a lot of really hate filled people in the many different places we’ve lived and I find myself saying this alot. It applies to religion, skin color, sexual orientation, etc.

I have a couple more I’d like to list, but my husband wants to watch a movie so I’ll have to put them up later.

Happy eat a Turkey Day and all that jazz

We had friends over for dinner on thanksgiving. I love cooking for other people especially when they make happy sounds and tell me how good the food is. Showing appreciation for my food always gets you invited back.
We made homemade cranberry sauce (which is really easy and on the back of the cranberry package). I substitute juice for water, but it works well. We also did some cranberry nut bread because I bought too many cranberries.

I also made too many mashed potatoes. Even with everyone eating a ton and the guys taking home containers, I have several containers of potatoes in the fridge right now. I think I’ll be making potato soup…

I had them peel way too many potatoes to begin with so too many mashed potatoes and then we made a potato gratin. It turned out pretty yummy too as long as you didn’t go all the way to the bottom. It burned a little on the bottom… the entire bottom.

Let’s see, then we did fried turkey. It’s my favorite and I like the smaller size because I don’t like turkey left overs. No one ever eats them.

I made oatmeal whole wheat rolls which are also yummy. It’s my favorite bread ever. It’s all gone right now but I’m going to make more later and since the same people are coming over on Christmas, I’m making some for them as well later in the month.

Stuffing… this turned out great and I typically hate stuffing. I added a TON of stuff to it but it was so yummy.

The apple pie this year was to die for. I let my youngest shake the spices on to the apples after I cut them and he was really in to it. I panicked a little at the sheer amount of spice on the apples, but it turned out super good and we’ll be doing that again next year.

The only bad part of thanksgiving was when my oldest fed Anni some of the cranberry bread (which he shouldn’t have done). First the poor girl got it stuck in the roof of her mouth and was running around the house in a panic until my husband took it out. She did manage to eat some of it though and then she was the amazing not pooping dog… That was so not fun at all. The boys and I had a big talk about not feeding the puppy people food because we want her to stay healthy.

It was a good day though. I like hanging out with the people we had over because they rock. I like cooking. I like stressfree holidays. So it was perfect for me.

Home is Dictatorship

My husband and I joke that our home is a dictatorship not a democracy. I made a poster to go with that and I’m debating selling it in my etsy store. The phrase is “our home is not a democracy, it is a dictatorship; how you behave determines whether it is a benevolent dictatorship or a harsh dictatorship.” Oh you know, in russian poster style now.

Updating the store and hitting my goal

My goal was to reach 100 items listed by this weekend and I hit that goal the other day. That’s not keeping me from listing though.
I’m listing more buttons and cards today and I’m also listing new bookmarks I completed last night. I’ll have dr seuss related ones and buffy related ones as well. I can even custom make some book marks if people want them.

Sneak peak at the ones currently be listed, but more will follow.

I’m also working on some dishes. Some of them are in the oven right now (you paint, cure at least 24 hours, bake to heat set). I have a poisoned apple platter, several glasses, and a couple sets of plates I’m currently working on as well.

My house is a little trashed, but I’ve been working on that too. It’s a damn good thing I canceled the cable or I’d never get anything done

Anni and her jacket

My husband gave me a puppy in August for our anniversary and I named her Anni… yes, I’m just that cheesy.

Anyway, she’s a little dog and doesn’t have tons of body fat on her. Potty training was going well until the cold weather hit. It was too cold for her to want to go outside and resulted in a lot of peeing in the house or peeing barely outside the door of the house so we bought her a little jacket.
I do believe my husband rolled his eyes at me, but didn’t say anything. Well, ever since she’s gotten her jacket, she seems to pee outside better. I let the dogs out this morning and forgot her jacket. She was none too happy with me either. I asked her “Do you want your jacket?” this morning and she actually knew what I was talking about because she started prancing around and barking (just like she does when you say water and fill the dish lol).

It made me laugh to see her out in the yard running around with her little jacket on. That sucker keeps her warm. Isn’t she adorable though?

Poisoned Apple Ornaments

img_6095

I’m loving the way these turned out. They’re just a little twisted and perfect for tiny christmas trees. I won’t be sorry if they don’t sell because I’ll use them on my own tree!

img_6100

I had painted about 20 of these today and I’m listing them in groups of five. They use vintage apple ornaments I found at some antique store so once they’re gone, they’re gone. I’m hoping I find more apples somewhere though because I really enjoy this whole twisted fairy tale thing I’ve been working on lately. I have a couple more things in the works too, but they’re not quite done yet.

The story on the box says : She wanted the castle to look pretty. She wanted to decorate with things she made herself, but she only knew how to make one kind of pretty red thing. So she set out making a fresh batch of poisoned apples and then she pranced about merrily hanging apples from every surface in the castle. …

Alice in Wonderland Flowers… again

I made some more Alice in Wonderland Flowers. I’m working on some for my etsy store and some for my mom as well. She apparently really likes them and wants some for her desk at work and it’ll be the perfect Christmas gift for her. I love the way these are looking on my table though. Once the table is cleared off, I’ll have to post photos of that as well, but for right now the etsy store photos will have to do

Major Updates

/sigh. So my bx vendor booth thing I was so excited about? Completely dead. Seriously. Not a single item sold there in the 2 days I was there. I did have people comment on wanting my stuff but not having the cash right then because it wasn’t payday… They wanted to know when I’d be back, I passed out cards, it at least got my name out there.

Instead of being overly discouraged though, I worked harder on my etsy site (which is geekdetails.etsy.com btw lol) and I came home and made even more items to list. My goal is to hit 100 by this weekend. So I’m listing like mad over the next week. I’m at 80 right now and i do have enough items to hit that goal, it’s just a matter of listing it all.
So I’m working on mini Nightmare Before Christmas ornaments, plates of various themes, more cups, and several different cards and buttons. Some of the cards I’ll be listing:
