More pink Hair

So Toni did my hair two weeks ago and it took 3 hours. At the end of the 3 hours, neither one of us was happy with it at all. She couldn’t fix it right then thought because my hair needed a rest so she told me to come back in two weeks. I went back yesterday and boy is my hair PINK now. I heart my new pink hair with minor dark brown streaks in it.022

Pirate CrafTea Cups

I bought these really pretty teacups that have a gold rim and thought they’d be perfect for my pirate vs ninja party. Don’t worry, I’m making ninja ones too later, but for now these are the only ones I have done. I once again made too many so I listed them in my etsy store Geek Details because I’m curious how they’ll do. In any case, Yo ho Yo Ho!

After I was done with the pirate cups (all 10 of them, split in two styles), I started working on cups for my store. The plan is to use thrift store cups, but have our logo on them so that the set has something that ties it altogether.  I think they came out pretty spiffy but I only photographed one. Why this one? Because I put a bug in the bottom of it…

A 1960s (??) couch

Monday is thrift store treasure day over at Southern Hospitality. Check it out if you’d like to see the awesome things other bloggers are finding. Cooleen and I are furniture shopping for our store that we plan to open in a couple months. I found this couch and loved it! It’s so super comfy and the woodwork is pretty. I didn’t like the fabric at first but it is starting to grow on me. I can picture it in a dark gray color and that would look lovely in my front living room.

013

I picked it up yesterday at the Salvation Army’s half off sale. It ended up being $50 and I think it was totally worth it. They said the man that dropped it off said it was 1960s. What do you think? Either way, it’s pretty spiffy to me. Love that woodwork and how I sink in to it. It’s just so comfy! We also picked up two tables and three dinning chairs. One table is really fugly and we’ll be redoing it (in a special way that I’ll post photos of later) and one table we’re not sure we’ll touch yet. The chairs are all having something done to them too. OH! and I picked up a wood tray with pop up base thingy. I thought it was pretty neat and may keep that one for the house too… at this rate I’ll never furnish the store.

And this is the other side of my living room right now. A friend gave us a couch and loveseat the other week and we took them thinking it would be forever until I found a couch for that room. HA! So we called another friend and offered him the two if he’d come pick them up. He’s picking them up tomorrow but for now the other half of the room looks like this

It’s a flipping mess and I’m working on it slowly but surely. I also need to work on some custom button orders, a blogerview, more CrafTea stuff and some dishes I can’t wait to share!

Painted Wood Stairs

I finally got a move on with my painted stairs project. We ripped up the carpet awhile ago but I’ve hesitated to paint them. We had originally wanted to stain them but we couldn’t do that because at some point the stairs were stained, but only about 5 inches on each side of the step and the steps and risers were different colors of stain. There was also a series of paint splotches on the stairs. We sanded down a stair or two and realized that it just wasn’t going to happen. We couldn’t save the stairs and make them wood colored again.

As you can see, they weren’t in great shape at all. Fixing them would be easier than I thought because we decided to paint instead. You can see the paint color I picked. It’s a floor paint which means it’ll wear better and I picked up dark gray. I still want to put something else on them, a design of some sort, but I’m good with them just being gray for now. At least they don’t look like crap anymore.

They were still wet when I took that photo, but you get the general idea. They’re just kind of meh right now. Better, but not perfect yet. I don’t want to paint anything else on them until I live with them a week or three and until I find the perfect inspiration photo. They’re getting better though. Certainly better than carpet that fuzzes everywhere. right?

The CrafTea

I’ve been a little lax in writing on my blog lately. In fact, Geek Details has suffered in general due to lack of attention. I’m getting better with it now, but I wanted to share why I’ve not been on my blog lately.

My friend Cooleen and I are planning on opening a store/tea house in our town.  What will we be doing? We want to sell really good loose leaf tea and handcrafted items. We have a whole slew of ideas for how we want the store to look and what we plan on selling. Cooleen has been testing the market to see if people would go to a place like ours and there seems to be an overwhelming “YES!” We’re still hunting for store space (and have several possibilities) but we have the idea for our furniture in the store, display cases, and product.

I talked to tea suppliers and we picked out the perfect one that does handmade tea in the USA. Cooleen and I picked out teas we want the store to carry and we have 32 flavors right now. Yes! THIRTY TWO! different teas. We also plan on having homemade food like blackberry scones, chai spice cookies, pumpkin muffins etc. All made on site with natural ingredients.

I’m making a bunch of new stuff for this store (my counter top in the kitchen is covered with it) and I’m planning on putting some of it in my Geek Details store soon to. The husband is helping me with photos this weekend and I’m doing one massive listing. Exciting no?

So what is this new store called? “The CrafTea” and you can find us on facebook for now, we’ll have our actual site up and running soon.

I am so terribly excited about doing this and I can’t wait to share more photos with you when I have them

Super Hero Masks

I’m working on these right now and I wanted to share. They’re nice sturdy adult sized super hero masks and I love them. Please forgive the horrid photos, they were taken late at night :)

I think they need some more detail work, but the basic shape is there. What do you think of them?

Creative Space

It’s been a bit hectic here the last several days and I’ve been busy creating things. Thursdays are creative space day over on kootoyoo so I’m sharing some pictures of what I’ve been doing in my space this week.

001

007

I found the rack at the thrift store and decided to take it home. The shelves are adjustable and there’s clips on the side for me to add buttons down the side. The rack is full of new items that will be in my geek details etsy store tomorrow. The bottom photo is of something new I’m attempting to do. We’ll see how it works out.

New Vintage Luggage and a teal umbrella

I bought the coolest stuff today. First I picked up some very lovely luggage (including a teal hat box). Then I found a teal umbrella and I literally squealed in the store. It’s so freaking cool and from checking out the construction, I think it’s handmade too which is even cooler. I also picked up a lovely working slide projector for use on a later project (I hope).

You can see more photos on my flickr if you’d like. I’m really looking forward to using these things to make stuff for the store. Can’t wait to share the finished results!

Weird Colored Hair… again

So I went almost all pink this time. I love my weird colored hair and Cody said it fits my personality. … I decided to take that as the late night compliment he intended it to be. My last pink dye job lasted longer because I used phosphate free shampoo and washed my hair with cold water. It helped the color stay in longer. I had less pink last time. This time my hair is mostly pink with a couple streaks of dark brown in it. I love it. Cody seemed to love it too. Wesley likes that when I pick him up from school, they know who is mommy is because she has pink hair. They never have to ask which one I’m there to pick up.

018

006

That last photo was so you could see just how PINK it is. I love it! I’m dying it Pink until December and then Toni at Co-Ed Creations will dye it brown. We’ll leave it alone for awhile and then I’m dying it BLUE! which is almost like PINK! only another color… still loud though, still loud. BLUE! Isn’t until March though. Who knows, maybe I’ll go TEAL! instead of BLUE! I think TEAL! would fit me better. Or is that too much matchy matchy with my product line? In any case I adore the loudly colored hair.

——————————————–

So I went to the Salvation Army with Wesley and picked up neat stuff. They also said they may have a mannequin torso I can buy next week. I hope so because I have ideas for it. Anyway, one of the older ladies that works there asked if she could touch my hair. I thought that was too funny. Surprisingly my hair does indeed feel like hair, it’s just PINK!!!

Studio Frustration

I’m having a heck of a time separating my items I use to create new product from my items that are finished products and my things I use to mail orders. I like things really organized and this room just isn’t coming together the way I want it to look. It’s frustrating for me to not always be able to find things I want to use for packaging or shipping or whatever and I’m unsure of how to organize my shiznit. I do NOT want a bigger space. I want to figure out how to make this space work for me. I think I’ve figured out I like baskets and drawers instead of open shelving. I like to be able to sort my items by like item so that all my ribbon is in one tub, all the tape in another etc etc. I don’t feel I can do that just yet.

So I’m frustrated and trying to create makes me more frustrated and and and and and… I need a freaking glass of wine. /sigh
Anyone have some pictures of an awesome looking and yet well organized functional studio space for me to look at so I can pick apart how they did it and redo it in my room? Pretty please?
