Odd Find on Etsy

I was poking around etsy instead of cleaning (I know, Bad Brianne!) and I found something very interesting.
Now, this shop is ONLY for open minded people (females? I’m not sure it would interest guys, unless they were very sweet and wanted to find anti-cramp things for their ladies). I really admire this person for what she is creating. It’s very fun for feminists and people who appreciate the female body in general. Not in a derogatory or sexual way.
Anyways, if your interested, follow the link and take a peek.

Alright, Now I really am off to clean. It’s getting late.
This was worth not cleaning for though. IMHO. <3

Oh Em Gee A Post!

Hey everybody,

Whew! It’s been a rough couple of days. Saturday we spent 20 consecutive hours moving my mom from one city to another. That includes packing, unpacking, and driving there. It was quite a day. Then Sunday we got her house mostly arranged, the big stuff at least and I spent 6 hours driving home. It’s only supposed to be 3 and a half. So, yeah. Turn left next time not right.
But all in all it’s good.
Monday I went driving around town with my boyfriend and one of our soon to be room mates. They were putting in job applications all over the place, trying to find a new job. It was okay until my car freaking died. Then it was not okay.

After that I came home and started cleaning. It is trashed. Everything is everywhere! But the living room is livable and the kitchen is clean so that’s a start.
Thursday all the carpets are getting cleaned, then I can really start getting this place together. Our roommate is all excited and really wants to help us get it decorated and put together.

Eventually we will get to our garage sale and get the garage all de-cluttered. It’s going to take a couple of weeks though. Unfortunately getting my store up and running is not possible at this time. And I am going to have to put thing a day last on my list.
I suppose house stuff counts, but I don’t know that I will want to blog about it when the day is done. Haha, as it is I am a walking zombie. I think I’m passed the point of being tired. But not quite exhausted yet.

Tuesday we destroyed the house again to get it ready for the carpet cleaner. Everything is getting taken onto the tile. We can’t even get into our kitchen. Hm, I should take a picture and show you. Haha, We have so much to get rid of. It’s almost depressing to see everything we have to do. But I keep telling myself it will be so awesome when we get it all done.
We’re painting the walls a darkish brown, and my cupboards are going to be a really deep red. (I loved Amanda’s red cabinets. So much so that I am going to paint mine that color. Woot!!) Then the ceiling is going to be relatively the same color as the floor.
Mom’s was like that and I freaking loved it! It’s going to look so nice.

Anyways, Staying up late again tonight to finish moving everything. Then Friday it will all be moved back. Yay! Then the real work can begin.
As soon as my house is livable I will start up my creative stuff again. All of this will take months so, I will have some free time I hope.

Alright, well I am going to go get going.

Planet Comicon 2010 – A disappointment…

I went to Planet Comicon today and I must say that it was a bit of a disappointment. It was basically one big vendor room and you had to pay to get in. They had one panel going on, a little food that I’m pretty sure made me sick, and the vendor room. That was it. I didn’t understand why people were leaving when we showed up an hour after the con opened, but I quickly figured it out.

I did meet fun new people and met up with Director Dave from Visioncon, but there wasn’t a whole lot to do except for meet the couple other people that were in costume and/or pose for photos with people (which was fun).  I did dress in my Alice costume from my birthday party though and had my photo taken lots of times and I met a couple new fun people so it wasn’t a complete wash.

This lovely girl asked to take my photo and I loved her costume so much that I had our photo taken together. Someone asked to take our photo together and then asked how old we were. I’m 27… she’s 14… it made me giggle. She did seem like she’d be fun to hang out with though in about 4 years ;)

Then Jordan and I talked to Bethany from Bethany sew and sew while we waited our turn for her husband to draw our picture. She makes the coolest aprons (aka instant costumes) and I’m hoping to show her an idea I have for a new Alice apron for her to make and me to purchase. She’s fun and her items were really neat. She also does different types of bags and will be making a special laptop bag for Jordan and I (separate bags of course lol). Her husband was also fun. He is Lee Leslie from Rigby the Barbarian.

If you sit and pose for him, he will draw a lovely picture of you. Jordan and I  had one done since we were in Wonderland garb and it would go well with the living room.

Then we moved on to Dane Ault and Ashlie Hammond from Monkey Minion Press. They were really fun and Ashlie and I discussed selling handmade. She gave me an earring idea and I have to call Brianne later to discuss it with her. I hope to add it to the store soon though. Ashlie does crocheted hats, comic page wallets, and more. Their booth just had some neat stuff in it.

I have to email a couple other artists i met because I have things I want from them that they couldn’t do at the show. And that about wraps up planet comicon. There wasn’t a lot to do and we didn’t stay long. I was fairly disappointed in it although I did like wearing my costume and having my photo taken. Jordan assured me that most conventions are not this bad and that I will enjoy future ones. I hope he’s right because I’m looking forward to doing more this year.

A baby grand piano

My friend has wanted a piano for awhile now but his home is too small. I mentioned he should just put it in my house and so he started visiting the pianos at the music store down the street. He was looking to buy one of the baby grands there and just hadn’t done it yet when we saw an advertisement for a baby grand piano for not a lot of money. We went and visited it and he wrote the nice woman a check. I had the feeling we were being interviewed to see if the piano would have a good home with us and luckily the woman decided we could take it home. You can’t just toss a piano in the back of the car and go though so we’ve been waiting for the right time to bring it home.

Today was that right time.

Our lovely friends Tara and Brandon have a big car and trailer which they drove to pick up the piano. Our other awesome friend Ross, James, and Jordan all pitched in to help lift and move the thing. Thanks to those guys (and Gary from Central Band and Piano in Warrensburg, Mo as well as Cody and Udom), I now have this in my front living room.

dark blue room

My camera is a bit spotty (sorry) but you get the general idea. I need a chandelier for this side of the room but I’m good with how it is for now. the other side of the room also needs some work but that’s the general idea for the whole house usually so I’ll just work with it.

It took a bit of work to get it in to the house though and of course i took photos of the entire thing.

alice in wonderland living room

We started with the piano right inside the door and decided we didn’t really like it there because it felt so crowded when you walked in to the house. We rearranged a little bit and now the piano is on the other side of the living room and some of the stuff was taken out of the room.

So now I have to go bust out the paint and finish the wall. I thought I’d wait until we were painting the hallway too but I can’t handle it anymore. I’m also painting the fireplace mantel back to white. The black color worked when we were going to paint the room a lighter color but now that the room is dark blue, it is just too much dark in here. White will help. There’s just minor things to tweek (like always) but that’s part of the fun of decorating.

Paper Boxes of Awesome!

Hey everybody!

Early morning Thing A Day!
I was watching a tutorial last night and I wanted to make it my Thing a Day.
The tutorial was how to make boxes out of paper! So, now I don’t have to buy any to ship my items in. Amanda gave me a bunch of really nice paper a while ago too. So I have a crap load of paper that has been sitting around for years and now I get to use it for something awesome!

These boxes are so neat. I have a problem getting them to fit into one another and with making perfect squares out of rectangles…But other than that it’s working out great!
Looky!

100_2760
The thing in there was a new little make up circle thing. I cut it into a square and shoved the ball chain through it so it looked nice. Well nice-ish. I have to cut it better next time.
I might use cotton instead. I just happen to have some of those, so I don’t have to buy anything else yet.

I made 4 boxes this morning, chances are I will make more.
I am trying to find a way to make them even without doing the first two folds. It leaves creases on the top of the box. Which isn’t bad, I just want them to not have creases.
The big one you can see the creases on, the little ones were made crease-less.

The lady that did the tutorial has a lot of neat stuff on packaging your etsy items. It was really neat to watch the videos.
But since my mouse has been sucking, it didn’t save when I tried to bookmark it. Thank you mouse. Now I hate you. I click click click the left button but I get nada.
So! I have found another tutorial for the same box. It’s not a video though. I will post the video later if I can find it again.

Now I’m going to go back to bed.
I love sleep <3

I made it pretty

Hello everybody!

A neat little thing of the day today. I have a new obsession with bunnies and scarves. Although, I forgot to draw the scarves on the bunnies….Darnit.
That’s okay it’s still cute.

I bought this wallet at St. Vincent’s for 50 cents. It’s got lots of pockets and keeps my money nice and straight for me. It was boring and black and I felt kind of silly with it. You know because it’s boring and looks like something an old lady would have.

I fixed that today though!
100_2758
Isn’t it ADORABLE!
I glazed it with multiple layers of the spray on gloss to keep it from coming off. My mom says it doesn’t look like the little girl bunnie is far back and the little boy bunnie is close up to the front. I thought it did but I could be biased.

There are lots of mistakes, but I still like it. And I will be happy whipping it out to let the moths fly forth.

Other than that, we got more things packed. Starting pricing a bunch of stuff for our yard sale/open house. Lots of junk has collected over the years. Some plates were worth a little but really I just want to get rid of all the crap.
So yeah, early night for good ol’ Brianne. I’m going to be done now, because I got a random cut on the tip of my finger and now it hurts.

TaD Alice in Wonderland glass stuff

Thing a day for yesterday was more Alice in Wonderland hand painted glass stuff. Why? Because I’m having a costume party soon for my birthday and want to decorate :) I also made a cat mask for Wesley to wear and bunny ears for Jordan. It’ll be interesting.

Meeting the Nerd Nest

Jordan and I were stupid and drove to KC the other day. It was snowing, but it snows a lot here so it wasn’t going to be that bad right? hahahaha. Wrong! We had a minor skidding incident on our way there which should have cued us to go home, but we shouldered on anyway and met up with Megan from the nerd nest. She and her sister in law met Jordan and I for coffee and then showed us this neat antique store that is set up like “those were the days” in Warrensburg… only nicer! It was so clean and pretty. I really need to get the address so I can share it.

Jordan and I weren’t really looking for anything special but it’s always fun to poke around in those places. I did find a spiffy bright red tulle petticoat thing though for a costume. I won’t wear it with my Alice in Wonderland dress because it’s a little too red, white, and blue but I have another outfit idea for it. I plan on wearing it to my next convention and post pictures in the morning. I did wear it over my jeans and out of the store though. I received some weird looks while we were walking to the car, but it was fun so whatever!

Anyway. We hung with Megan for a little while and then attempted to find a mall for Jordan so he could update his wardrobe. Tomtom didn’t help much and we ended up at a mall sized walmart, but not a mall. Very upset. We kept trying to find stuff and it just wasn’t working. We did find an Einstein Bro bagels and it was out of business. /sad panda

We finally said screw it and headed home. The weather took a turn and we saw several vehicles on the side of the road. We almost became one when the person in front of us slammed on their brakes for no reason. Jordan wasn’t following close (thankfully) and slowed down but the car started hydroplaning in the slush. It was scary and we’re damn lucky no other cars were around or his car would have been damaged.

We made it home in one piece, changed in to warm comfy clothing and relaxed with Cody and Udom. I informed Udom that he was not going home with the roads the way they were so he once again slept on the couch. He really should just move his bed in soon since he practically lives here now :-p

We watched “Boondock Saints 2″ and it was horrible. Seriously just so freaking awful. I hope they don’t come out with #3 because wow this movie sucked.

Which means that meeting 1/2 of the Nerd Nest was the highlight of that day! Thanks Megan for making my day not entirely craptastic!

TaD – decoupaged tiles

One of the thing a day projects for this past week was my decoupaged tiles. Like a lot of my projects, I’ve had the parts in the house for a while now and just not done anything with them. I fixed that last night (or the night before, I’m not really sure anymore).

dictonary coaster

decoupaged tile

I found my camera finally which means I could take photos to post. I’ll take photos of the yard tomorrow because Jordan and Udom worked hard on it today. I didn’t help though because I spent the majority of my day passed on thanks to cold medication. I’m feeling quite a bit better now!

I’m going to St. Louis tomorrow with Cody. He has a work thing there and we have friends we trust to look after the boys so he asked me to go with him. I’m meeting up with @u2acro and a bunch of other people at the st. Louis tweet up. I’m hoping it’s fun. It’s with @u2acro though so how could it not be fun? I’m also going to go thrift store shopping Thursday while Cody is at his thing. Friday is my birthday (YAY!) and we’ll be coming home to spend it with the boys. It’s a busy week, but a good busy. Tons of photos to take tomorrow though, bags to pack, and then we’re off. YAY!

Oh Mai Gosh

Tutorials are freaking long!
I have to admit it was alot of fun! I took like 60 pictures and just picked the best ones. It was so big I had to do it in two parts.
Surprisingly I started it at like noon. But It took me so long I had to leave before I could finish putting the big tutorial all together. I just finished it now.

Here are the links to my DeviantArt. It was way to big to put on here.
Part I Part II
If it has spelling errors, I’m sorry. It was so big I didn’t even go back to read over everything. I probably will tomorrow…

That’s it for tonight though.
If you use it I would love to see what you made!! And if you post about your charm, all I ask is for you to link your viewers to this blog.
I hope it is informative!
